Youth of Peace
"Called by the Gospel, Gathered by
the Spirit and Sent to Serve Others"
We Believe
The goal of our youth ministry is, first and formost, the faith development of youth from birth to young adulthood. We believe this development is unique for each young person and that faith is a gift of the Spirit of God. We strongly believe that faith is caught rather than taught and that mentoring and providing an atmosphere of love and grace is our key work.
We ground our youth ministry in baptism and aim to guide our youth in the meaning of their baptisms and what it means to live out their baptismal covenants.
We aim to teach the scripture stories for in them youth find their compass in life. We teach the faith as confessed by our Lutheran church so that our youth understand and appreciate the Lutheran gift to the Christian community.
We see our youth as active and needed participants in our community's life. We work for their active involvement in all aspects of Christian community, especially in our worship life. We value their contributions and learn from their questions and displays of faith.
We practice and uphold firm and unbending protection for our youth and will not tolerate disrespectful and abusive language or actions. We practice listening, giving each person the right to pass, not allowing put downs, showing appreciation and respect.
We engage our youth in service to others and to the world. We teach them the joy of service as a response to the command of Christ.
We engage our youth in Christian community by providing forums for development of friendships and relationships with other youth.
